Is there mobile signal at Hawkes Point?
Being based in Cornwall, by the coast and on a hill we’re not in prime mobile signal area unfortunately. The lower apartments suffer the most and certain networks are more favourable than others. We find Vodafone and connected networks to be the worst effected, O2 probably the best and EE somewhere in between. Most guests receive mobile signal on balconies or in the car park at the very least, but weather and season do have an effect. Each apartment has access to WiFi so if your network allows WiFi calling and texting we advise you turn this on.
Where is the nearest shop?
The nearest shop is CostCutters, it is walking distance from Hawkes Point, about 5 minutes away. It sells newspapers, basic groceries and the best local strawberries around! If you need more than the basics then we would recommend heading either into St Ives for local goodies or to Tesco which is a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute drive.
How far is the train station?
Carbis Bay train station is literally walking distance, 2-3 minutes down the hill from the apartments. It takes 5 minutes to get into St Ives on the train and it leaves about once an hour. Carbis Bay is a branch line and the nearest mainline station is St Erth, it is 10 minutes by car, train or taxi.
Is there any where to leave luggage before we check-in?
Unfortunately, due to the nature of our set-up and an already small store room we don’t have space for guest’s luggage. If you need to arrive early please request an early check-in which is detailed in our arrival pack that we send a week or two before arrival.
Can I have an early check in and/or later check out?
Our check in time is 4pm and check out is 10am.
We would love to get you into our apartments sooner and to have a later check out, unfortunately it takes a long time for our dedicated housekeepers to prepare our properties to the high standards you expect. If you are intending on arriving to Carbis Bay earlier than 4pm do let us know but please don’t expect the property to be ready. Check out is strictly 10am unless agreed in writing with one of the team.
If you want to get a head start on your holiday or enjoy a lazy checkout of up to 2 hours (12pm latest) then we do have an option to add an early check in and/or check out to your booking. This is charged by the hour at £15.
If you would like to add a early check in or late check out or would like to see our other add ons then please head to our holiday extras page for more info.
Please note there are occasionally circumstances where we are unable to offer this service.

How close to the beach is Hawkes Point?
We are a five minute stroll to the beautiful blue flag Carbis Bay beach which offers sailing, kayaking, SUPs and is a great beach for swimming and paddling.
Porthkidney Sands, a quiet stretch of sand to the East is a 10 minute walk away and Porthminster to the West is a 10-15 minute walk away.
Will my apartment have laundry facilities?
Each apartment has its own washer dryer for your laundry needs. You will need to bring your own washing powder.
When do you service the apartments?
We service the apartments on departure unless you are staying for 10 days or more, in which case we will offer a mid-stay linen change and ‘spruce’.
If you would like your apartment to be serviced more regularly we can arrange this as an additional service, just ask one of the team.
Will my property have central heating?
All our properties have underfloor gas central heating.
Does it matter what time we arrive and how do we get the keys?
Check in is from 4pm so we ask guests not to arrive before this time but you may arrive anytime after as we use a key-safe system.
You will not be required to meet a member of staff on arrival, we will send out information on the key-safes and access codes a short while before your stay.
Saying that, we are always happy to pop in and say hi, just let of of the team know if you’d like to be met on site within office hours.
Will I need a car during my stay?
We are conveniently located a 2 minute walk from Carbis Bay train station and we find many guests prefer to travel by train than by car. You can walk (25 mins) or catch a train to St Ives (5 mins), Penzance or other destinations very easily.
To explore West Cornwall there is a bus service, which is especially good in the summer months when you can catch the open top bus.
With an abundance of beaches, restaurants and things to do in St Ives and Carbis Bay it is not unusual for our guests to not use a car during their stay.
One of my party suffers from allergies, what do I do?
Allergies come in all shapes and forms and we will do our utmost to assist where possible. The best thing to do is let us know when you book a property.
We can place hypo allergenic bedding in, replace the gluten and dairy products in our welcome gifts and change out your bottle of bubbly with a non-alcoholic drink if preferred.
This is just a start, so don’t be afraid to talk to us.
Can I use my parking space prior to check-in?
We often need car parking spaces during changeover days for housekeepers and tradesmen so we ask you don’t arrive prior to 4pm.
We are local to the area and know all the best parking spots, so should you be unable to avoid arriving early, we will be happy to point you in the right direction of somewhere to pop your car while you wait. Although we suggest using the extra time to grab fish and chips at Becks or a coffee at Carbis Bay beach café, both of which have parking for customers.
Why Carbis Bay?
Sat just outside of St Ives we can’t think of anything better than Carbis Bay. Just far enough away from the hustle and bustle yet still within walking distance and a mere 5 minutes by train.
With spacious apartments, magnificent views and a Blue Flag beach just down the road, why not let Carbis Bay be your next holiday destination?
